The Best RPG PC Games

This is a list of the 10 best RPG PC games of all time. Many of these were also available for console, but for the most part they made their name on the PC. Here is a list of ten of the best RPG PC games ever.

10 - Might & Magic 6: The Mandate of Heaven - This game is considered to be one of the best of the long-running Might & Magic series. The game came out in 1998 and was praised for its interactive and detailed game world, user-friendly premise, non-linear game play, and bug-free initial release.

9 - Planescape: Torment - The game was released in December 1999. It was considered by many video game journalists to be the best role-playing game of 1999. Planescape: Torment won multiple awards for RPG of the Year and Game of the Year.

8 - Baldur's Gate - Received both 1998 Game of the Year and 1998 RPG of the Year from over a dozen major computer gaming publications. This game was the smash hit of CRPGs that year. The game is also credited with helping the CRPG revival.

7 - Neverwinter Nights - The game was based off of the first graphical MMORPG that ran on AOL from 1991 to 1997. Although it wasn't technically an MMORPG, it was based off of the same concept only it allowed the end user to host the server. NWN won awards at E3 three years in a row.

6 - Diablo - Released in 1996, Diablo has sold more than 2.5 million copies. It is considered to be the inventor of the point-and-click action RPG genre. The game was awarded Game of the Year by GameSpot during its release.

5 - Fable - Released in 1996 and published by Microsoft, the game received critical acclaim from the very beginning. It was the top selling game upon its release and ended up selling over two million copies in just over two years.

4 - Final Fantasy VII - The best-selling Final Fantasy game of all time. FFVII has sold over 9.8 million copies as of December 2005. The game has been voted by some as the best game ever, both in North America and Japan.

3 - Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - The third installment of the Elder Scroll series was released in 2002. It sold more than four million copies and won more than sixty awards, including several Game of the Year awards. The game had high review scores and spawned multiple expansions and follow-up games.

2 - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Developed by BioWare and published by LucasArts, Knights of the Old Republic was considered by many to be the 2003 Game of the Year. It is also considered to be one of the most influential works of the Star Wars Expanded Universe.

1 - Fallout 3 - Awarded the Best Role-Playing Game of E3 in 2007, Fallout 3 has won numerous other awards as well. Game reviews for the game have been extremely positive with high praise for its open-ended game lay and flexible character-leveling system.
