Fable 2 PC Release Date – Is There One?

Fable 2 is the follow-up sequel in the successful Fable series.  It was originally released on Xbox 360 and ever since then many fans have wondered if there will be a Fable 2 PC version.  In 2010, Fable 3 was released for the Xbox 360 and the PC version to the third game is due out in May of 2011.  Fans of the game series have been left to wonder, is there a Fable 2 PC release date?  Will we ever see that game out on the PC platform?

If we didn’t see Fable 2 come out for the PC, this wouldn’t be the first game series to abandon that platform mid-series.  The successful Gears of War franchise released the original game on the console platform.  Eventually, demand drove them to port the game from console gaming to the computer.  But with the release of Gears of War 2, Epic confirmed that they will not be creating a PC version of the second game in their series, ever. 

Both Fable 1 and Fable 3 have PC versions created for the games.  Due to the fact that the original game was so successful, the developer decided to push it onto the PC platform.  And when the third game in the series was released, fans asked if there would be a PC version of that game.  The developer informed players that there would in fact be a ported version of the game that would be released several months after the console version.

To this day, Fable 2 still does not have a PC version or a release date of when it will come out.  In 2009, Lionhead Studios stated that the launch of the second game was so successful that they would be forced to port the game over from the console.  But that same year, a member of the Lionhead development team told several gaming websites that the team was not working on a Fable 2 PC port.  This conflicting information had fans guessing on what was actually going to happen with the game.

Today, we are left to conclude that if the developer hasn’t come out with a PC version of Fable 2 yet, it probably isn’t going to happen.  Fable 3 has already been released on the Xbox 360, as stated earlier, and will be released for the PC soon.  One would expect that a developer wouldn’t go back in the series to port out an older version of the game.  Instead they most likely will be focusing all of their efforts on the next version of the game and hopefully looking forward to bringing fans the next in the game series, Fable 4.
